ISLE OF HARRIS

£1995 /£350 deposit

The Isle of Harris has become, over the past 8 years, the location I return to most often with my camera.

The beaches stretch for miles, the light changes constantly, and the Atlantic can look completely different from one hour to the next. It's a location never fails to deliver, even when it looks grim.

This workshop focuses on Abstract seascape photography and intentional camera movement.

I'll show you how I approach a location, how I work with changing conditions, and how I use shutter speed and camera movement to simplify a scene and create more abstract images.

We'll be staying in coastal cottages close to some of Harris's best locations, including Luskentyre, Scarista, Huisinis, and the west coast beaches.

There is no fixed shooting schedule. Each day is planned around the weather, tides, and light. If a storm arrives, we'll photograph the storm. If the conditions are calm, we'll work with that instead.

When we're not out photographing, we'll be back at the cottages editing together. I'll take you through my Lightroom and Photoshop workflow, from image selection through to the final finished photograph.

Group size is limited to three participants.

That allows plenty of time for individual tuition, whether you need help with camera settings, intentional camera movement, editing, or developing a more consistent approach to your photography.

The workshop is suitable for photographers who enjoy the coast and want to spend a week focused on making photographs rather than rushing between locations.

You'll return home with a strong set of images, a clear understanding of the techniques we've covered, and plenty of ideas to take into your own photography.

What Clients Say

"This was my second workshop with Chris to the Isle of Harris, and like the first trip it was a fantastic experience. Chris introduced me to ICM during my first trip and with his experience, patience and enthusiasm, it gave me another outlook on photography to bring home.  Chris’s choice of locations and the best time to shoot, was invaluable. There was plenty of opportunity for one-on-one time with Chris, be it during the day or during the evening processing the days catch. This was a real great benefit and provided an insight into all aspects of photography.  It was great getting to know everyone in the group as well, great camaraderie, even when you’re fighting the sand and rain at times, but it’s worth it, believe you me.I would thoroughly recommend any of Chris’s workshops, to any keen photographer who wants to improve their photography, as I have had with Chris on the Isle of Harris.

Thanks Chris for a both trips to Harris, a tremendous experience.
