Terms & Conditions

Last Updated: June 2026

These Terms & Conditions apply to all photography workshops operated by Chris Davis Photography. By booking a workshop, you agree to the following terms, which are designed to ensure a safe, enjoyable and professionally run experience for all participants.

1. Bookings & Payments

  • A non-refundable deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your place.

  • The remaining balance is due no later than 90 days (3 months) before the workshop start date.

  • Bookings made within 90 days of the workshop start date must be paid in full at the time of booking.

2. Cancellations & Refunds

By You (the Participant)

Cancellation must be made in writing.

If you cancel:

  • More than 90 days before the workshop: Deposit retained, balance (if paid) refunded.

  • 60–89 days before the workshop: 50% refund of the total workshop fee.

  • 30–59 days before the workshop: 25% refund of the total workshop fee.

  • Less than 30 days before the workshop: No refund.

The deposit is non-refundable as it secures your place on the workshop, removes that place from sale, and contributes towards administration, accommodation, planning and other costs incurred in advance of the workshop.

If a workshop is cancelled due to insufficient numbers (fewer than two participants), you will be offered either a place on an alternative workshop or a full refund, including your deposit.

If your place can be resold, Chris Davis Photography may, at its sole discretion, offer a refund of monies paid, less the deposit and any unrecoverable costs already incurred.

No refunds, credits or partial refunds will be provided for unused workshop time, late arrivals, early departures or missed activities for any reason.

We strongly recommend all participants take out comprehensive travel insurance covering cancellation, illness, personal belongings and travel disruption.

By Chris Davis Photography

In the unlikely event that a workshop must be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, including but not limited to illness, travel disruption, severe weather, government restrictions or insufficient bookings, participants will be offered either:

  • A full refund of all monies paid; or

  • A transfer to an alternative workshop date, where available.

Chris Davis Photography shall not be liable for any additional costs incurred by participants, including but not limited to flights, accommodation, insurance premiums, equipment hire or other third-party expenses.

3. What's Included / Not Included

  • Personal purchases and expenses

4. Health, Fitness & Responsibility

Workshops often take place in remote or coastal environments and may involve walking on uneven terrain in unpredictable weather conditions.

Participants are responsible for bringing suitable clothing, footwear and any personal medication required during the workshop.

By booking a workshop, you confirm that you are physically capable of participating in the activities described.

Please inform Chris Davis Photography of any relevant medical conditions, injuries or mobility issues before the workshop begins.

Participants remain responsible for their own actions, decisions and personal safety at all times.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability which cannot legally be excluded under the laws of England and Wales.

7. Itinerary Flexibility

The nature of landscape and seascape photography is heavily dependent upon weather, tides and local conditions.

Chris Davis Photography reserves the right to modify locations, schedules and itineraries at short notice to maximise photographic opportunities or ensure participant safety.

No refunds will be provided for itinerary changes made in good faith.

8. Travel Disruption & Remote Locations

Workshops taking place in remote locations, including but not limited to the Scottish Islands, may be subject to disruption due to weather conditions, ferry cancellations, flight delays or other transport-related issues.

Participants are responsible for arranging and funding any necessary alternative travel arrangements resulting from such disruption.

Additional costs arising from travel disruption remain the sole responsibility of the participant and may include:

  • Additional accommodation

  • Alternative or rescheduled transport

  • Car hire

  • Missed connections

  • Extended stays before, during or after the workshop

  • Any other associated expenses

Participants are responsible for ensuring they allow sufficient time for onward travel connections following the workshop. Chris Davis Photography accepts no responsibility for missed flights, ferries, train services or other onward travel arrangements.

No refunds, partial refunds or compensation will be provided for missed workshop time, delayed arrivals, early departures or altered itineraries resulting from circumstances beyond our control.

Workshops will proceed wherever reasonably possible, although itineraries may be adjusted to suit prevailing conditions and circumstances beyond our control.

Comprehensive travel insurance covering travel disruption is strongly recommended.

9. Use of Images & Promotional Material

Chris Davis Photography may capture behind-the-scenes photographs or video footage during workshops for use on websites, social media, printed materials and other promotional purposes.

If you do not wish to appear in such material, please notify us in writing prior to the workshop.

Participants retain full copyright of all images they create during the workshop.

10. Conduct

Participants are expected to behave respectfully towards fellow participants, local communities and the environment.

Any abusive, disruptive, unsafe or inappropriate behaviour may result in removal from the workshop without refund.

11. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any dispute arising from these Terms & Conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
