Join me on an all inclusive adventure to the Uist Islands on the wild and stunning islands of the Outer Hebrides, where dramatic landscapes, shifting tides, and the raw energy of the Atlantic create the perfect backdrop for a unique seascape photography workshop.
This seven-day workshop takes place across the Uists — a string of islands known for their untamed beauty, from the vast, sweeping beaches of Berneray to the rugged, wave-battered coves of North Uist. We’ll explore Benbecula’s open shorelines, wander the untouched dunes of South Uist, and, conditions permitting, venture to the magical island of Barra.

Staying in a stunning self-catering house on North Uist, we’ll be perfectly positioned to discover the diverse and breathtaking landscapes of the islands. Each day will unfold based on the weather, tides, and light, allowing us to chase the most dramatic conditions.

You can expect a rich variety of environments to inspire your creativity. The ever-changing landscape of the Outer Hebrides means there will be no shortage of breathtaking moments to capture, whether it’s the deep tones of the Atlantic crashing against jagged rocks or the soft, glowing light filtering through cloud-draped skies.

In the evenings, we’ll look to do some post-processing sessions in the comfort of our house. I’ll guide you through refining your images, from basic adjustments to more advanced techniques, while we reflect on the day's adventures. These relaxed sessions are a chance to bond with fellow photographers over a beer, wine, or whiskey — the perfect way to unwind and celebrate the day’s work in a friendly, informal atmosphere.

This workshop is a chance to step away from the ordinary, exploring your photography on a deeper level. Together, we’ll not only focus on capturing traditional landscapes but also experiment with more creative techniques like Intentional Camera Movement (ICM), long exposures, and abstract compositions. I’ll guide you in using these techniques to express the feeling and emotion of the place, helping you create images that go beyond the purely visual. You’ll learn how to connect with the landscape in a way that allows you to truly capture its essence.

As a small, intimate group of just four participants, this workshop offers plenty of personal attention, giving you the opportunity for one-to-one mentoring and feedback throughout the week. You’ll leave with a deeper understanding of your craft, a stunning portfolio of images, and a fresh perspective on how to approach your photography.

We’ll enjoy home-cooked meals,  to fuel your creative energy each day. 

After a full day of shooting, there’s nothing better than sharing great food with good company in a place as special as the Uists.
